| Joanie is an Emmy-winning music
editor, with extensive experience in both feature
films and television. The recipient of thirteen MPSE
Golden Reel Award nominations, she has five times
won the award, for music editing on “American
Beauty”, “The Music Man” (remake), Alan Menken’s “A
Christmas Carol, The Musical”, HBO’s “The Rat Pack”,
and HBO’s “Hemingway and Gellhorn,” for which she
also won the 2012 Primetime Emmy Award for Sound
Classically trained, she earned a B.A. in Music at UC Berkeley, with continued graduate studies in Musicology at Boston University where she conducted the BU Women’s Chorus. After spending a number of years as a singer/songwriter, an interest in film led to her present career as a film music editor.
She continues to pursue her love of early music as a member of the madrigal group “Oriana.” She has also toured with the Heart of Gold Band as background vocalist for Donna Jean Godchaux, formerly of The Grateful Dead. Joanie is a member of the Motion Picture Academy (Music Branch) as well as the TV Academy (Sound Editing Branch).
